Mezco Toyz One:12 Collective Green Arrow REVIEW!

INTRODUCTION:

Green Arrow (Oliver "Ollie" Queen) is a fictional superhero who appears in graphic novels published by DC Comics. He was created by Mortimer Weisinger and designed by George Papp and first appeared in More Fun Comics #73 in November 1941.

Oliver is a billionaire businessman and owner of Queen Industries, and a well-known celebrity in his locale of Star City, similar to Batman and his alter-ego Bruce Wayne.

Dressed like a modern-day Robin Hood, Green Arrow is an archer who uses his abilities to fight crime in his home cities of Star City and Seattle, as well as alongside his fellow superheroes as a member of the Justice League.

Green Arrow has been known to deploy a vast array of trick arrow with special functions such as glue, explosive-tipped, grappling hook, flash grenade, tear gas and even kryptonite arrows . Green Arrow currently has his own show on the CW network titled "Arrow" starring Stephen Amell.

PACKAGING-8/10

Mezco Toyz's Green Arrow comes with a basic One:12 box, but what I really like about this box is the fact that its heavier and sturdier, and comes with a classic Green Arrow logo draped in...well, green. (Haha!) It also comes with a double tray which holds the figure, accessories as well as the display stand and plastic bag.

ACCESSORIES- 8/10

Green Arrow comes fully loaded with a smorgasbord of accessories ranging from extra hands, a quiver and various arrows. He comes with:

- Standard masked portrait - "OTV" protective tunic - Armored boots and gloves - 1 Harness - 1 Bow and quiver - 1 Standard arrow, 1 grappling hook arrow, 1 PETN explosive arrow, 1 Kryptonite arrow, 1 three-arrow bundle, and 1 bundle of arrows for quiver - 1 Knife and sheath - 1 pair Posing hands (L&R) - 1 pair of Fists (L&R) - 1 Bow holding hand (L) - 1 Multi-arrow holding hand (R) - 1 arrow holding hand (L&R) -1 Knife holding hand (R) -1 Quiver-arrow pulling hand (R) -1 Display base with posing post

FIGURE- 9/10

Where do I even begin to describe how much I love Mezco's take on such an iconic character? I mean I was already pretty much a Mezco fan when I got their BvS Batfleck figures, but they've really, really upped the ante with this one. I'm serious, this could very well be the company's best figure for 2017 (so far).

Rather than go down the path of recreating the CW's TV version of Arrow, Mezco took a gamble and decided to merge the New 52 comics version of the character with the costume he wore during the "Longbow Hunters" comic book story arc back in 1993. AND the gamble certainly paid off. This Green Arrow is sleek, sexy, and really looks like he belongs in some dark forest hunting down some bad guys.

And if you look really close at the headsculpt, you'll find that Mezco has flawlessly captured the classic Oliver Queen look with the goatee and mustache. The material used for his costume is actual fabric and has a zipper which actually works (although I won't try and take off his suit!). His armor around his arms and feet are also meticulously crafted, with subtle layers of wear and tear and scratches which give the look that Green Arrow's seen his share of battles.

But the clincher for me, the thing about the figure that blew me away is the fact that his hoodie can be pulled back. This really adds another dimension to the kind of pictures you can get with this figure. Mezco's done this by inserting some wires for the hoodie which also gives it some volume when he has it on.

ARTICULATION-7/10

Green Arrow's arms are the most articulated compared to the previous Mezco One:12 Collective figures simply because they are not restricted by any armor, costumes of shoulder pads. Therefore you should have no problem coming up with different poses for the figure's upper torso.

BUT having said, I do wish that his ankle articulation was slightly better. As it is, the ankles are quite stiff and can't bend or move that much, which inadvertently hinders some movements and limits the ability to execute certain poses.

POSEABILITY-7.5/10

There is definitely much fun to be had posing Green Arrow in as many poses as possible, though personally for me I was careful not to try out any "extreme" ones for fear of damaging the fabric or worse the figure. But rest assured, Ollie is a sturdy son of a gun, so don't be too worried when playing with him. :)

VALUE- 9/10

If you're a fan of Green Arrow or looking to get a figure which will definitely be a collector's item in the future, get this guy before he's sold out!

Big Bad Toy Store has him for US$75 (RM334.01). Or you can search Ebay or Facebook groups for a good deal.

OVERALL SCORE- 8.1/10
